Building and maintaining an effective work team demands an understanding of individual differences, the general needs of team members, and the dynamics of group process. It also requires an awareness of organizational reality, the goals of the team, and the goals and roles of individual team members.
Team members complete the Myers-Briggs Type Indicatortm and combined results are analyzed to produce a team profile. This profile provides important insights into the different preferences and behavior tendencies of team members, and a establishes a foundation for enhanced team effectiveness.
Participants come to better understand the three key focuses in effective teams: the attention to tasks, roles, and relationships. The workshop explores "core competencies" team members need in order to function effectively as a unit, and provides practice opportunities for skill development in these key skills. A simulated team activity provides an understanding of group dynamics and the important elements of effective teamwork.
Intact teams that participate are encourage to complete a "team contract" and to engage in focused planning for how they can continue to develop and grow as individuals and as a team.
SPECIAL NOTE: This workshop is designed to be completed by teams or intact work groups together, and can help new teams get off to a fast start, or help teams that are further along re-focus and develop more quickly and effectively.
